Linux and Network Security Researcher

About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Security Researcher to join CYMOTIVE In-Vehicle Cyber and Innovation lab. 

This influential position will allow you to take an active role in shaping the CYMOTIVE Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and future automotive security products. 


Responsibilities: 

*Building a database of attacks through: 

Research of automotive-specific and general network protocols.  

Research and documentation of common attacks on *nix-based systems. 

Working with both offensive and defensive cyber researchers to formalize and implement additional internally known attacks. 

*Writing code POCs for exploitations of common vulnerabilities that are able to run in simulations and on real vehicle hardware. 

*Tight collaboration with our development teams to convert the attacker knowledge into defensive mechanisms. 

*Producing high-quality structured deliverables and communicating the team’s activity with multiple stakeholders within CYMOTIVE, and on the customer side. 

Requirements

  • 4+ years of proven hands-on experience in network / host security research.  
  •  Experience in implementation of real-world attacks on protocols or hosts.  
  • Deep familiarity with computer networking concepts and TCP/IP. 
  •  Proficiency with a coding or scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, JavaScript, etc.). 
  • “Can-do” attitude, self-driven execution, and eagerness to constantly improve and grasp the bigger picture. 

Bonus Points: 

  • Basic reversing expertise or knowledge of black-box binary analysis tools. 
  •  Cloud research experience. 
  •  Academic degree in a relevant field.  
  •  Relevant military training.
